PIP'S GROWING LAB

Small steps. Big sprouts.

Write a little Python and see your ideas grow.

Resources will appear when your world loads.

Console

ONE LITTLE EXPERIMENT AT A TIME.

Grow an idea with Pip.

Call a function, observe a tile, then change one thing. The farm runs on simulation ticks; growth and actions follow your program, independently of animation speed.

Examples replace the current editor file after you confirm. They never run automatically.

Farm toolkit

move(North) moves one tile. can_move(North) checks the route.

can_harvest(), harvest(), plant(Entities.Carrot), till() prepare and collect crops.

measure(), swap(East), get_entity_type(), get_ground_type() inspect and arrange your field.

get_pos_x(), get_pos_y(), get_world_size(), get_water(), get_tick_count() reveal state.

num_items(Items.Hay), get_cost(Entities.Carrot), use_item(Items.Water), get_companion(), change_hat(Hats.Dinosaur), wait(200), clear(), spawn_drone(function, *args) support later experiments.

Python language & constants

Variables, arithmetic, comparisons, if/else, for/while, functions, lists and dictionaries are supported. Game code uses a restricted Python interpreter: host imports, filesystem and network access are unavailable. The separate course terminal supports general Python practice.

Directions: North, South, East, West. Entities: Grass, Bush, Tree, Carrot, Sunflower, Pumpkin, Cactus. Grounds: Grassland, Soil. Hats: Default, Dinosaur. Item names are shown in the resource bar and downloadable guide.
